Training and Instrument Reservation

Access to core facilities will only be granted after registering with the Biomedical Engineering Department. If you have not registered with the BECF or if your registration has expired, please register through our online portal, which can be found here.

When all the appropriate documentation is completed, you may request training on the desired instrument using the inquiry form below. Once training is completed, an invitation to the google calendar for the requested instrument will be sent to the user. Invitations will only be sent to users with BU email accounts or Gmail accounts. Once the user has access to the instrument’s calendar, they may schedule time on the instrument.

Making Instrument Reservations

We have transitioned to using LabArchives for instrument scheduling. The process for users to gain access to the facility is as follows.

1.) Register as a BECF core user and request for instrument training through the link below. You will contacted by BECF staff to discuss your specific needs.

2.) Training will be scheduled with BECF staff or a power user for the instrument.

3.) After you have been certified by the training instructor, you will be invited to join LabArchives. (https://www.labarchives.com/) When you join, please

  1. Fill out your user profile
  2. Schedule an On-Boarding Interview.

You will not be able to make an instrument reservation until you complete the On-Boarding Interview process.

4.) After you’ve successfully completed the on-boarding interview, you will be given access to make reservations in the instrument calendar. You can then request for room access through Ziaus.

5.) When requesting room access in Ziaus, please include in the notes section of the request, the following pieces of information.

  • the instrument you are requesting access to
  • who trained you
  • when you were trained

Facility access is granted for a period of 1 year from the date of user registration or re-registration. Renewals are granted based on compliance with the BECF policies.
