Meet Katie Curtin (CAS’11)

Katie Curtin (CAS’11) can’t wait to relax in FitRec’s lazy river.

Name: Katie Curtin
From: Phoenix, Arizona
School: College of Arts and Sciences
Major: Undecided

What convinced you to come to BU?
I really wanted to get away from home — far away. The East Coast seemed very appealing, and I’ve always wanted to live in a big city, but New York was too big. Once I settled on Boston, the [FitRec’s] lazy river sold BU.

What makes you feel most excited about coming to college?
Living on my own!

What makes you feel most nervous about coming to college?

Living on my own!

What kinds of activities do you want to become involved in?
I’d definitely like to get involved in community service activities (First Year Student Outreach Project before school starts maybe?), especially those involving children.

What is one of the goals of your first year at BU?
I’d like to make a lot of friends and see a lot of Boston.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

I’m not completely sure.

What will be your first stop when you start exploring Boston?
I’ve heard the North End is packed with things to do, so maybe I’ll start there. I’ve only been to Boston once though, so I don’t really know what’s available.

How are you spending your summer vacation?
For most of the summer, I’m working to save up a few more dollars before college. I work at Pump It Up, a kids birthday party place with all the inflatable stuff everyone loves, like moon bounces, obstacle courses, slides, etc. Other than that, I’m taking one or two family trips to California and going to Orientation, Session 6!
