Kabir — an independent emcee, singer, and producer who hails from London and is based in Boston — will hold a hip-hop seminar at BU Central on Saturday, February 3, before performing with his band. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the event begins at 9.

Kabir’s music blends hip-hop, funk, soul, jazz, reggae, and rock. He has shared stages with hip-hop giants such as the Roots, Talib Kweli, Dilated Peoples, the Beatnuts, the Pharcyde, and Wyclef Jean and has been praised in the Boston Globe, Billboard, and Spin. The Weekly Dig calls him “one of the most innovative and stunningly original lyricists and musicians in underground hip-hop,” and he was a 2006 Boston Music Award nominee for Best Local Hip-Hop Artist.

All BU Central events are free with a BU ID. For more information, visit www.bu.edu/sao/bucentral.
