Alexander Graham Bell at BU

BU made the right call investing in Alexander Graham Bell's research.

On October 18, 1892, Alexander Graham Bell placed the long-distance call that inaugurated service from New York to Chicago. In 1875, Bell, then a professor at BU’s School of Oratory, received a year’s salary advance from BU to pursue his research. He invented the telephone the next year. BU Photo Services
