“Seeing Beyond the Partisan Divide” symposium scheduled for Oct 2-3
The Miller Center, University of Virginia Page-Barbour Interdisciplinary Initiatives Committee, and the American Political History Institute are pleased to announce “Seeing Beyond the Partisan Divide. ” Scheduled for October 2-3, 2015 at the University of Virginia’s Miller Center, the symposium will develop new paradigms in postwar U.S. political history that transcend partisan or ideological historical frameworks. Confirmed participants include Brian Balogh, Melissa Borja, Jamelle Bouie, Merlin Chowkwanyun, Nathan Connolly, Darren Dochuk, David Freund, Sarah Igo, Andrew Kahrl, Monica Kim, Matthew Lassiter, Sarah Milov, Rachel Moran, Quinn Mulroy, Andrew Needham, Amy Offner, Suleiman Osman, Julia Ott, Daniel Rodgers, James Sparrow, Bruce Schulman, Thomas Sugrue, Siva Vaidhyanathan, and Michael Willrich. Drawing upon the symposium papers, we expect to publish an edited volume that will forge new agendas for political historians. The symposium was organized by Brent Cebul, Lily Geismer, and Mason B. Williams and is sponsored by the Miller Center, the University of Virginia’s Page-Barbour Interdisciplinary Initiatives Committee, and the American Political History Institute.
