Nontheatrical film, geography, and labor history
Jack Ott studies cinema and labor history, with a particular interest in cultural landscapes and depictions of space. Jack’s master’s thesis, “Which Side are You On?: The Laboring of American Space in Union Films Sponsored Media, 1946-1953,” explored how postwar, sponsored, nontheatrical media attempted to create an American topography inherently tied to labor.
