Lindsay studies black representation in American television. She is particularly interested in how black history is conveyed on television and television as a pedagogical tool for dominant black culture.

Before starting the Ph.D. program, Lindsay earned an M.F.A. in Film and Television Studies from Boston University. Her thesis, titled “To Be Young, Gifted, and Black: A Melodramatic Saga,” was a textual analysis of three black musical miniseries. For her undergraduate work, she completed a B.A. in Media, Journalism, Television, and Communication with a concentration in TV/Film Production at Howard University and was an Entertainment Collection and Curatorial intern at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
