Graham E. Peterson received a Bachelor’s in History from the University from New Hampshire and a Master’s in Ethnomusicology from The University of Washington. Utilizing a performative and spatial framework, Graham’s research situates the music of The Grateful Dead, the Band, and their fans in the context of a burgeoning liberal American nationalism characterized by an escapist rural fantasy. Graham’s dissertation is entitled, Growing an Americana Movement: Resistance, Roots, and Restless Masculinity After the Folk Revival. An avid educator and guitarist, Graham has presented at various national conferences, including the Society for Ethnomusicology, the Society for American Music, and the American Musicological Society.
