Task Forces
In 2023, then Interim Provost Kenneth Lutchen led a cross-disciplinary effort to develop policies and guidance on generative AI in academia. Two task forces—one on administration and one on teaching and research—brought together experts to assess AI initiatives, recommend policies, and compile positive use cases. Their findings stressed the need for BU to critically embrace AI to fulfill its educational mission and set up students to live and lead in an interconnected world.
- The AI Task Force for Teaching and Research analyzed AI’s impact on education and research, consulted experts, and developed guidelines, policies, and recommendations.
- The AI Administrative Processes Task Force explored AI integration in University operations and necessary support structures.
