Radical Abundance: Techniques for an Unfinished Century
In Radical Abundance, we interrogate the multiplicity of compositional practices shaping music in the 21st century—ranging from spectralism and microtonality to generative systems, indeterminacy, voice, environment, and the redefinition of musical identity. This seminar embraces experimentation, critical thinking, and sonic investigation. Students will produce creative or analytical work rooted in contemporary aesthetics. Students will engage with the music of living composers across a range of geographies and methodologies through listening, score study, readings, and creative/analytical work. |
