• SED WL 511: Teaching Methods in World Language Education
  This course examines pedagogical approaches in world language teaching and learning. Students explore standards-based instructional methods, models of teaching, discuss underlying theories, and examine current issues in the field. Students develop lesson plans and practice high-leverage teaching practices.

• SED WL 512: Curriculum & Assessment in World Language Education
  This course examines curriculum and assessment in world languages. Students develop a deep understanding of ACTFL Proficiency levels, assess learner proficiency, develop performance assessments, conduct Oral Proficiency Interviews (OPIs), and develop thematic curricula and units from a social justice perspective.

• SED WL 513: Input & Interaction in the World Language Classroom
  This course focuses on developing and demonstrating two essential principles of world language teaching: using the target language and supporting learner interactions. Students develop lessons and complete micro-teachings.
• SED WL 514: SED WL 514 Inclusive Principles & Practices in World Language Education
  Explores teaching for justice in world language education by developing intercultural citizenship and disrupting inequality. Policies of exclusion, barriers to access, and classroom practices are examined to support an inclusive classroom where all learners experience success. 4 cr. Either sem.
• SED WL 532: Young Learners in World Language Education
  This course examines models of early language learning and standards-based instructional practices to support young language learners. Students observe and critique teaching videos, develop lessons, and engage in micro-teachings. Different program models, including FLES and immersion programs, are explored.
• SED WL 541: Practicum in Arabic as a World Language, PK-6
  Students pursuing Arabic licensure in the World Language Education program are assigned a PK-6 student teaching field placement, completing observations and classroom teaching.
• SED WL 542: Practicum in Chinese as a World Language, PK-6
  Students pursuing Chinese licensure in the World Language Education program are assigned a PK-6 student teaching field placement, completing observations and classroom teaching.
• SED WL 543: Practicum in French as a World Language, PK-6
