PDP GS 109: Gymnastics Tumbling Skills
Students concentrate on learning and understanding basic gymnastics movements and skills building into the fundamentals of tumbling, as well as further advanced tumbling skills. -
PDP GS 110: Beginning Tennis
Introduction to the rules and fundamental practices of tennis including basic strokes, techniques, and playing in game situations. Tennis is played on the outdoor tennis courts at the Case Center when seasonally appropriate, then moves to indoor courts at the Track and Tennis Center. -
PDP GS 112: Beginning Squash
This course provides an introduction to basic stroke mechanics and rules of the game. Strength, flexibility and fitness for the beginner are all considered through the lens of "racquet skill acquisition". By the end of the course students will be able to demonstrate better ball-control and efficient movement around the court. Perennial trouble spots on the court and common bio-mechanical errors are assessed and short, round-robin competition will round-out each session. Loose, athletic clothing and non- marking sneakers are required. Racquets, balls, and lensed polycarbonate eye-protection will be available at no cost from the pro shop. -
PDP GS 114: Intro to Golf
This is an introductory class for beginners wanting to learn and/or improve their golf swing. Instruction will focus on the proper fundamentals for both full swing and short game. Students will develop their skills each week and learn how the great game of golf is played. -
PDP GS 128: Table Tennis
Instruction in basic offensive and defensive strokes in both singles and doubles play. -
PDP GS 130: Fundamentals of Soccer
This class includes the introduction and execution of the technical components of soccer. These skills will be combined with game play and tactical instruction. Spring semester only. -
PDP GS 133: Beginning Basketball
This is an introductory class for beginners wanting to learn the basic skills and rules of the game. Instruction will focus on the proper fundamentals including shooting, passing, and dribbling. Students will develop their skills each week and have the opportunity to apply them in 5-on-5 scrimmage games. -
PDP GS 150: Cricket, beginning
Beginning level course including the history and rules of cricket. Basic skills will be explored with an emphasis on batting, bowling and fielding techniques. By the end of the course, students will be familiar ith the fundamentals of cricket and be able to participate in practice games. Equipment will be provided. -
PDP GS 190: Low Intermediate Volleyball
Low Intermediate Volleyball is intended for those who completed the Beginner Volleyball course or have had some exposure to competitive volleyball and are able to pass/set/hit and serve. This class is designed to refine these skills and develop more consistency. Various offenses and defensive rotations will be introduced and incorporated into class scrimmages. Class time will be divided between drills to refine basics and implementing skills during scrimmages. Students who are unsure about their skill level and which class to sign up for should sign up for a level lower. -
PDP GS 200: High Intermediate Volleyball
High Intermediate Volleyball is intended for those who have completed the Beginners Volleyball and Low Intermediate courses or have had significant exposure to competitive volleyball. Students are expected to be able to serve/pass/set consistently, be able to hit roll shots, and be familiar with the 4-2 and 5-1 rotation. Basic skills are briefly reviewed and practiced, and complex offenses and defenses are introduced and incorporated into class scrimmage. Class time will be primarily spent on implementing skills during scrimmages. Students who are unsure about their skill level and which class to sign up for should sign up for a level lower. -
PDP GS 208: Gymnastics, Intermediate
Prereq: PDP GS 108 or consent of the instructor. Intermediate-level students work to improve existing skills and achieve specific goals on floor and other apparatus. -
PDP GS 210: Intermediate Tennis
Course is designed to review and expand skills learned in Beginning Tennis (GS 110). Students will build on fundamental strokes and techniques with lessons on topspin, slicing and utilizing them in interactive play and match situations. -
PDP GS 300: Advanced Volleyball
The Advanced Volleyball class is the highest level volleyball class that is offered. It is intended for those who have completed the High Intermediate Volleyball course or have had years of exposure to competitive volleyball. Students are expected to possess a certain baseline skill level to maintain the flow of the class. Students are expected to be able to serve/pass/set/hit consistently and be familiar with 5-1 and 6-2 rotations. Intermediate skills are reviewed and practiced. Complex offenses and defenses are incorporated into class scrimmages. Class time will be primarily spent on practicing skills during scrimmages (Doubles, 3 on 3, 4 on 4, or 6 on 6). Students who are unsure about their skill level and which class to sign up for should sign up for a level lower. -
PDP HE 102: LEAD BU: Building Wellness & Academic Skills for Success
LEAD BU is a wellness, resilience, and academic skills-building class designed to support your health and your life as a student through practicing skills and strategies for stress hardiness and academic success. LEAD stands for Learn, Explore, Access, and Develop, and throughout the semester, you will learn your personal strengths, values, and interests, practice skills for healthy interpersonal relationships, and explore various domains of wellness and strategies for self-care and self-determination, in a structured and supportive environment. You will also investigate your personal learning styles, study and test-taking strategies and practice various approaches to self-advocacy, planning, and SMART goal setting. -
PDP MA 103: Tae Kwon Do, Beginning
An ancient Korean art of self-defense. In Beginners Tae Kwon Do, we emphasize whole body and mental fitness through training in strength and conditioning, flexibility, endurance, basic upper body and lower body techniques, which include forms, stances, punches, blocks, kicks, and strikes; basic sparring skills, forms, and self-defense techniques. The practice of Tae Kwon Do develops character through courtesy, self-control, discipline, self-confidence, patience, physical fitness, attention, mental alertness, leadership, humility, perseverance, and respect. -

PDP MA 203: Tae Kwon Do, Intermediate
Students who have completed Beginners Tae Kwon Do course or have prior experience in Tae Kwon Do or related martial arts, can continue training in Intermediate Tae Kwon Do. In Intermediate Tae Kwon Do, students will continue to train whole body and mental fitness as in Beginners Tae Kwon Do, and at a higher level and higher intensity of training in strength and conditioning, flexibility, and endurance. Students will also learn more advanced and finer basic upper body and lower body techniques, in forms, stances, punches, blocks, strikes, kicks, spinning kicks, jumping kicks; sparring techniques and strategies, forms, and self-defense. The practice of Tae Kwon Do develops character through courtesy, self-control, discipline, self-confidence, patience, physical fitness, attention, mental alertness, leadership, humility, perseverance, and respect. -
PDP MB 100: T'ai Chi, Beginning
A classical system of martial arts and exercise developed in China 700 years ago. It is characterized by fluid and slow movements designed to cultivate internal energy, balance yin and yang, develop body flexibility, and promote efficient and healthful body movement. -
PDP MB 101: Hatha Yoga, Beginning
This slow, fluid, graceful exercise helps develop muscle tone, flexibility, coordination, balance, slow deep breathing, and deep relaxation. -
PDP MB 102: Ashtanga Yoga
The Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga is a beginner level sequence of yoga postures linked with movement and breath, designed to bring strength, flexibility and stamina to the body and tranquility to the mind. The class features a warm-up sequence including sun salutations, the first half of Primary Series, relaxation techniques and meditation.
