Alternate Format Credit Limit

School of Education Policy

Master’s Degree, Graduate Certificate, and Certificate of Advanced Standing Graduate (CAGS) students admitted to either the Boston campus or online programs can take a maximum of 8 BU credits in the alternate format. Students must notify their advisors and submit a notice of intent to SED Records to take the credits in the alternate format. Approval will be based on the number of credits taken previously at BU in that format. Exceptions to the policy will be considered on an individual basis and via the existing waiver review process.
