  • PDP MA 103: Tae Kwon Do, Beginning
    An ancient Korean art of self-defense. In Beginners Tae Kwon Do, we emphasize whole body and mental fitness through training in strength and conditioning, flexibility, endurance, basic upper body and lower body techniques, which include forms, stances, punches, blocks, kicks, and strikes; basic sparring skills, forms, and self-defense techniques. The practice of Tae Kwon Do develops character through courtesy, self-control, discipline, self-confidence, patience, physical fitness, attention, mental alertness, leadership, humility, perseverance, and respect.
  • PDP MA 105: Shotokan Karate
    Introduction to the martial art of Shotokan karate and its applications for self-defense. Stresses physical conditioning and discipline. Fall semester only.
  • PDP MA 107: Beginning Kung Fu
    This beginner course will provide a general introduction to Kung Fu warm-up exercises including calisthenics and stretches, basic stances and drills and self-defense routines (forms). This course is designed to improve your physical abilities, mental toughness and provide the experience of studying Kung Fu.
  • PDP MA 203: Tae Kwon Do, Intermediate
    Students who have completed Beginners Tae Kwon Do course or have prior experience in Tae Kwon Do or related martial arts, can continue training in Intermediate Tae Kwon Do. In Intermediate Tae Kwon Do, students will continue to train whole body and mental fitness as in Beginners Tae Kwon Do, and at a higher level and higher intensity of training in strength and conditioning, flexibility, and endurance. Students will also learn more advanced and finer basic upper body and lower body techniques, in forms, stances, punches, blocks, strikes, kicks, spinning kicks, jumping kicks; sparring techniques and strategies, forms, and self-defense. The practice of Tae Kwon Do develops character through courtesy, self-control, discipline, self-confidence, patience, physical fitness, attention, mental alertness, leadership, humility, perseverance, and respect.
  • PDP MA 207: Intermediate Kung Fu
    Prereq: MA 107 or equivalent Kung Fu training.This course will provide a continuing foundation for learning Kung Fu through warm-up exercises (calisthenics/stretches), basic stances and drills, self-defense routines (forms) and general commands in Cantonese. Students will improve their physical abilities, mental toughness and be provided with a rewarding experience reinforcing their studies and increasing their skills with new material.
