Management Honors Program
The Management Honors Program curriculum builds upon the standard curriculum at the School of Management to give students a unique opportunity to explore areas of interest in greater depth.
Freshman/Sophomore Years
- Honors Program students participate in special colloquia in the Fall Semester of their freshman and sophomore years in which they research and discuss topics and issues in management with the Faculty Director of the Management Honors Program.
- The Spring Semester freshman colloquium is a lecture series showcasing School of Management faculty members and their research interests.
- Honors Program students take a special accelerated section of SMG SM 222 Modeling Business Decisions and Market Outcomes in the spring of their sophomore year.
- Also in spring of the sophomore year, Honors Program students participate in an International Field Seminar, a semester’s worth of country analysis and study of culture, history, and economy culminating in a weeklong trip to a location such as Prague or Dublin.
Junior/Senior Years
- Honors Program students complete two 2-credit seminars in small groups taught by some of our most esteemed undergraduate and graduate faculty.
Community Service
- Students in the Honors Program complete 10 community service projects during their four years at the School of Management.
In addition, students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of fields within the liberal arts or in other disciplines outside of management through the completion of a minor. Many Honors Program students also pursue study abroad and/or dual degree options. Periodic dinner meetings, an annual retreat, and a service-oriented optional spring break bring together students, faculty, alumni, and administrators for informal discussions, panels, and presentations on student-selected topics.
Students who are not invited to join the Honors Program as incoming freshmen may be considered for invitation after the spring of their freshman year if they have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 in at least 36 academic credits. Students successfully completing the requirements of the Honors Program will have the “Honors” designation on their Boston University transcript.
