Major Themes in the Middle East Peace Process
CAS IR 514
Examines in depth the divergent positions in the Arab-Israeli conflict and efforts by the United States and the United Nations to resolve them. Analyzes the Camp David negotiations leading to the peace treaty of 1979; the abortive autonomy negotiations for the West Bank and Gaza flowing from one of the Camp David agreements; the Palestinian uprising in the West Bank and Gaza since 1987; and the proposal of a comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace treaty as a solution to the current problem.
