Juan Pedro Paniagua

An experienced civil engineer, Dr. Paniagua has published and presented on the implications of seismic activity on the structural stability of buildings. An honorary member of the Mexican Society of Civil Engineers, Paniagua has taught at the high school level as well as at Universidad Nacional de Nicaragua, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Northeastern University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Tufts University. In addition, he is artistic director of Escena Latina Teatro, a local community-based non-profit theater organization. He joined the SEP faculty in 2009 and teaches engineering and mathematics courses. He demystifies mathematics and highlights its application to science and engineering as well as other non-technical fields.
