  • PDP FT 201: Cardio Kickboxing
    A great cardiovascular workout choreographed to music. Kick off the fat and punch off the pounds. Martial arts and kickboxing are combined to increase muscular strength, cardiovascular conditioning, coordination and balance.
  • PDP FT 203: Fat Burn
    A high/low combo type class that will get your heart pumping and body moving to burn fat.
  • PDP FT 204: Cardiostep and Ab Lab
    A complete workout that starts with a warm-up and cardiovascular exercise, including stepping to tone the lower body, and finishes with intense abdominal strengthening followed by a relaxing cool-down period.
  • PDP FT 206: Cardio Toning
    Prereq: PDP FT 102, PDP FT 202, or the equivalent. An intense combination of high/low aerobics and body sculpting/toning. Previous training in aerobic or strength conditioning programs is recommended.
  • PDP FT 207: Beach Body Workout
    Burn fat and sculpt muscles in a high energy class using a variety of equipment to achieve the beach body that you have always wanted.
  • PDP FT 208: Weight Training
    A course in the principles and methods of strength training using machine and free-weight exercises. Improve muscle strength, tone, endurance, and body composition with sensible, safe weight training.
  • PDP FT 210: Weight Training for Women
    A course for the female athlete to improve muscular strength, endurance, and body composition using free-weight and machine exercises. Students design a strength program according to personal goals and objectives.
  • PDP FT 300: Step N' Kick
    Increase cardiovascular and muscular conditioning, balance, and coordination with a great combination class featuring step aerobics and kickboxing techniques.
  • PDP FT 302: Aerobox
    Learn the basics of boxing and achieve an overall optimum level of fitness. Set to music, this intensive workout includes abdominal strengthening exercises.
  • PDP FT 304: Group Exercise Instructor Training
    Offers students the opportunity to prepare the group exercise instructor certification exams with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE),and to learn about individualized programs in health and fitness. The course is also appropriate for individuals with an interest in exercise and fitness, but who do not wish to pursue certification. Lectures include basic anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, and biomechanics. Practical training workshops are offered in exercise leadership, choreography, and safety.
  • PDP FT 306: Fitness Instructor Training
    An entry-level class designed to prepare individuals for Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer Certification Examinations given by certifying bodies such as the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Includes practical and theoretical seminars in basic anatomy and exercise physiology, fitness evaluation, training program design, nutrition, teaching methods, and safety issues.
  • PDP GS 102: Epée Fencing, Beginning
    Introductory course to épée fencing--the dueling sword! Includes footwork, blade technique, and tactics. No prior fencing experience is required. Equipment is provided. 1 cr either sem
  • PDP GS 104: Saber, Beginning
    Beginning-level course on the fundamentals of modern competitive saber fencing with an emphasis on proper technique development and tactical applications. Of particular interest to theater majors as it most closely parallels armed stage combat. Equipment is provided. 1 cr either semester
  • PDP GS 106: Foil, Fencing
    Includes basic techniques and tactics of modern foil fencing, a historical outline of fencing, and practice of the sport for fun, exercise, and/or competition. Equipment is provided. 1 cr either semester
  • PDP GS 108: Gymnastics, Beginning
    Students concentrate on learning general body understanding and specific skills in tumbling and on apparatus. 1 cr either semester
  • PDP GS 114: Golf, Beginning
    Instruction regarding grip, posture, alignment and swinging applied to irons and woods. Classes are conducted indoors and equipment is provided.
  • PDP GS 116: Golf for Women
    An introductory course for women with little or no experience in golf. Instruction on stance, grip, and swing as applied to woods and irons; rules, scoring, and etiquette. Class and golf course sessions. Equipment is provided; however, students may use their own.
  • PDP GS 120: Marathon Training
    This course will provide the knowledge and physical foundation needed for students to prepare for completion of a marathon, with the possibility of competing in the Boston Marathon. Content will cover topics such as nutrition guidelines for distance running, injury prevention, creating and evaluating a training plan, maintaining and monitoring a training log, and planning of group runs. Information on obtaining an official entry into the Boston Marathon through fundraising efforts will be provided. The course will meet once a week for one hour.
  • PDP GS 122: Boxing
    Learn boxing basics starting with stance and hand placement and proceeding to the jab, the straight right, hooks, and uppercuts. Learn how to slip, duck, and parry a jab; practice counter-punches and footwork. Get a great aerobic workout and walk away with improved self-confidence.
  • PDP GS 123: Boot Camp Plus
    A comprehensive course in real deal fitness. Work on cardio-respiratory muscular strength and endurance and flexibility. This is a tried and true workout consisitng of running drills, abdominal work, upper body strength, and enduracne exercises and walking with weight. Basic self defense skills from boxing, wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu and American Combat Karate will also be covered. Get a solid base of physical and mental training to get in superior condition that will help in all sports and outdoor activities. This will be a high level class working with all ability levels.
