PDP ER 150: Community CPR
This course trains students in the lifesaving skills used in respiratory and cardiac emergencies. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) for adults, children, and infants is taught through lectures, readings, and video, then reinforced through practice on manikins. Those who pass a written and practical exam become certified in Community CPR for one year. Class fee includes required text. -
PDP ER 180: Pet CPR and First Aid
This course trains individuals in the skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care in pet emergencies. CPR and first aid skills for dogs and cats are emphasized through lectures, readings, and video, and then reinforced through hands-on practice on manikins. Topics include choking, medical emergencies, and care for injuries. Class fee includes required text. -
PDP ER 210: Wilderness First Aid
Prereq: Adult CPR or equivalent. An intermediate first aid course for anyone who spends work or leisure time where medical care is an hour or more away. Students learn how to recognize and treat illnesses and injuries encountered in remote locations. Those who pass course requirements earn a three-year certification in Wilderness First Aid. Class fee includes required text. -
PDP ER 250: CPR for the Professional Rescuer
Students learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants using a resuscitation mask, bag-valve mask, and automatic external defibrillator,(AED) as well as more advanced techniques for special rescue situations. This class is equivalent to Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider. Students who pass course requirements earn one-year certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Class fee includes required text and resuscitation mask. -
PDP ER 300: Advanced First Aid
Prereq: Intermediate First Aid. This course increases the rescuer's knowledge of first aid and emergency care. Topics include face, chest, and abdominal trauma, advanced medical emergencies, childbirth, and pediatric and geriatric emergencies. Upon successful completion of all practical skills and written exam, students will be certified in Advanced First Aid for 3 years. Class fee includes required text. -
PDP ER 350: CPR and First Aid Instructor
Prereq: Community CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification. This class certifies individuals to teach Adult, Child, and Infant CPR with AED, as well as Basic First Aid for the Emergency Care and Safety Institute, National Safety Council, American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Class fee includes required texts. -
PDP ER 400: Emergency Medical Technician
EMT course that prepares students to take the written and practical EMT exams issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or the National Registry of EMT's. Students learn all aspects of pre-hospital emergency care for injuries and illnesses, and practice patient assessments and emergency procedures. Emergency room and ambulance observations are additional components of the course. There are no course prerequisites, but students must attend all class sessions and pass written and practical exams. Class fee includes required texts and CPR training. -
PDP ER 405: EMT-B Refresher
Prereq: Emergency Medical Technician. The EMT Refresher is a continuing education training course required for EMT recertification. All topics of pre-hospital emergency medicine are discussed and reviewed as well as changes in state protocol. Knowledge and skills are tested at the conclusion of the course. -
PDP ER 415: Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
Prereq: First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician. Prehospital Trauma Life Supprot (PHTLS)is a unique continuing education program created in recognition of the real need in EMS education for additional training in the handling of trauma patients. This indispensable program is designed to enhance and increase knowledge and skill in delivering critical care in the prehospital environment. The course focuses on trauma patients in the prehospital environment-how to identify, manage, and transport them with the highest level of care and give them the greatest chance of survival. PDP ER 430: Geriatric Education for Emergency Medical Services (GEMS)
Prereq: First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician. Geriatric Education for Emergency Medical Services is a continuing education training course developed by the American Geriatric Society and the National Council of State EMS Training Coordinators. GEMS is an exciting curriculum designed specifically to help EMS providers address all of the special needs of the older population. GEMS represents the most credible and complete source of prehospital medical information for older adults. Class fee includes required text. -
PDP ER 440: Airway Management
Prereq: Emergency Medical Technician. This American Heart Association is designed to give students the opportunity to learn, practice and demonstrate many airway skills used in resuscitation. Healthcare providers whose occupation or volunteer activities require management skills, in addition to professionals in the field of resuscitation and airway management such as scientists, educators, researchers and manufacturers of medical devices will find the course beneficial. The learning model for this course includes video-guided instruction, skills practice and testing in bag-mask ventilation and airway adjuncts, laryngeal mask airway, esophageal-tracheal combitube, endotracheal tube, and impedance threshold devices. PDP ER 445: ECG & Pharmacology
Prereq: Emergency Medical Technician. This American Heart Association is designed to enhance ECG recognition skills and drug treatment knowledge. It's an ideal class for healthcare providers who are preparing to take ACLS, but can also be used by anyone needing to learn ECG recognition skills and/or pharmacology. This comprehensive course presents information on basic electrophysiology, normal ECG measurements, basic arrhythmias, basic ACLS drugs, usage and routes of administration during cardiovasclar emergencies, and how to integrate basic drug pharmacology into ACLS algorithms. PDP FT 102: Condition and Tone
Designed to enhance upper and lower body muscle tone. Includes a warm-up stretching phase, and intensive floor work. -
PDP FT 104: Step Training
A class that combines cardiovascular conditioning and strength training. Students perform a variety of movements while stepping on and off the platform. For those serious about increasing their fitness level. -
PDP FT 107: Zumba
Described as a fitness party, this fast paced aerobics class featuring Latin tunes and easy to follow moves will allow you to achieve long term results while having fun. -
PDP FT 108: Split 20/20/20
Three workouts in one! The 20/20/20 class is designed to give you the ultimate challenge and total body workout. Sweat through 20 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of resistance training and 20 minutes of stretching and core work. -
PDP FT 109: Cycle Express
A 45 minute cycle class offering a great cardiovascular workout in a short period of time. -
PDP FT 110: Stability Ball Training
Train the entire body using a resistance ball. Improve muscular strength, endurance, coordination, and flexibility in a class designed for all levels. -
PDP FT 114: Fitness Training
A course in fitness training principles and methods. Use weight machines and free weights to improve cardiovascular fitness, muscle tone and endurance, flexibility, and body composition. -
PDP FT 200: Sculpt and Stretch
A total body conditioning workout that combines stretching, weights, and calisthenics to tone and sculpt muscles. Dance exercises are used to strengthen and lengthen muscles, to increase flexibility, and assist in preventing injury.
