CFA MU 559: World Music and Culture
Read, discuss, and begin to understand the rich, ancient tradition of Balinese shadow play music (gender wayang). Students will critique recent scholarship and learn to play Balinese shadow play music on the original instruments. Music sessions will be taught in the oral tradition. Enrollment is open to all students, graduate and undergraduate, music majors and non-majors. Prerequisite: none. -
