Two topics are offered 2010/2011. Students may take one or both for credit. Topic for Fall 2010: The Spanish American Short Story. Emphasis on the concept of modernity and on Spanish-American preoccupation with cultural identity. Authors include Darío, Acevedo, Díaz, Quiroga, Lugones, Borges, García Márquez, Rulfo, and Ferré. Topic for Spring 2011: TBA.
