For beginners. Contrastive study of Spanish and English spelling and pronunciation. Fundamentals of Spanish grammar. Techniques of vocabulary building: cognate recognition and morphology. Reading, translation, and discussion of short literary and cultural texts written primarily in the present tense. If CAS LS 111 or a more advanced Spanish course has been completed, this course cannot be taken for credit.
