First-Semester French for Reading
CAS LF 121
For beginners. Contrastive study of French and English spelling and pronunciation. Fundamentals of French grammar. Techniques of vocabulary building: cognate recognition and morphology. Reading, translation, and discussion of short literary and cultural texts written primarily in the present tense. Consult the Director of Student Affairs in the Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures for more information on the scheduling of this course. (If CAS LF 111 or a more advanced French course has been completed, this course cannot be taken for credit.)
