As the Senior Manager of University Relations, EJ Ren serves as the primary representative for BU Study Abroad externally, leading outreach efforts in the recruitment of non-BU/visiting students. She manages a portfolio of partner institutions and cultivates relationships with advisors, faculty, and institutional leaders to expand program participation and strengthen partnerships.
Prior to joining Boston University Study Abroad, she served as an Education Abroad Advisor at the University of Maine, where she advised students throughout the study abroad process, managed international partnerships, and led transcript evaluation and credit transfer. Originally from China, EJ came to the United States as an international student at the age of 14, an experience that continues to shape her passion for expanding access to global learning and supporting students on their own international journeys.
EJ holds a Master of Arts in International Higher Education from Boston College and a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana. She is actively involved with NAFSA through regional and national presentations, leadership initiatives, and previously served as the NAFSA Maine State Representative. In 2026, she received the NAFSA Rising Star Young Leader Award in recognition of her contributions to the field of international education. EJ enjoys exploring new destinations, experiencing different cultures, and building meaningful connections through travel.
