As Director, Elisabetta Convento, PhD is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Boston University’s Padua and Venice programs. She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Romances Studies, Boston University. For Boston University in Padua, she teaches courses on Italian literature and an internship course that students complete alongside professional work experience.

Elisabetta has served in this role since 2009. Previously, she worked as Academic Coordinator of the University of California in Padua and was a professor of English Linguistics at the University of Trento. She has worked in international higher education since 1998.

Elisabetta holds a Doctorate in Comparative Literature and Women Studies from the Université Paris 8 and the University of Trento; a Master’s Degree in Comparative Literature from Purdue University; and a Master’s Degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Padua.

She speaks Italian, French, and English and has published books and articles in various fields such as, Italian Literature, Comparative Literature, Women and Gender Studies, and Translation Theory. Elisabetta is a member of several organizations: Associazione Internazionale Dino Buzzati; AATI (American Association of Teachers of Italian); AACUPI (Association of American College and University Programs in Italy); AACUPI Steering Committee; and the Women Translator Project, Università di Napoli ‘L’Orientale’.
