Amalia Pérez-Juez, PhD is Director of the Boston University Study Abroad program in Madrid, Spain. She is involved in the academic and personal integration of American students in Spain, supervises all program operations, and works closely with Boston University faculty and administrators to keep the curriculum in Madrid up-to-date. She also teaches history and archaeology and is involved in different research projects.

Amalia earned her Doctorate at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where one of the BU programs is hosted, after having studied in France at the Université de Grenoble and Université de Poitiers, and in the U.S. at Boston University. She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of History at Boston University and conducts archaeological research with colleagues and former students.

Amalia holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, a Master’s Degree from Université de Poitiers, and a Doctorate in Archaeology from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

She speaks Spanish, English, and French and belongs to international committees dedicated to the research and protection of cultural and archaeological heritage: ICOMOS Spain, Comité Científico Menorca Talayótica World Heritage, etc.
