In order to ensure credit transfer for your external study abroad experience, it is important that you read all of the information in the sections below.

You are required to received approval from the study abroad office, your academic advisor, and individual departments on campus to receive approval for study abroad transfer credit. All of these approvals will be documented on the External Transfer Credit Form.

There are deadlines to turn in the supporting paperwork. These deadlines were created to benefit the student, as it is ideal to know which courses will transfer before departing for your program. If the paperwork is not done beforehand, transfer credit cannot be guaranteed.

Deadlines:

Spring: December 1
Fall and Academic Year: June 15
Summer: May 1

Your final official transcript must be sent either electronically to nonbusa@bu.edu or via mail to the following address in order to be evaluated:

Boston University Study Abroad
C/O External Programs
888 Commonwealth Avenue, 2nd Floor
Boston, MA 02215 USA

Transcripts sent to other offices will not be evaluated for transfer credit.

If you have specific questions about the policies or procedures pertaining to external study abroad credit transfer, please consult the Program Manager for External Programs at BU Study Abroad (nonbusa@bu.edu).
