COM JO 528 Travel Writing in Australia: Journalism and Non-Fiction
Introduces students to “small town Australia” through local day excursions, preceded and followed by time in the classroom studying examples of the genre and producing written work based on the excursions. Focus on journalistic writing including pitching articles and stories to local, national and overseas publications.

Study Abroad will enroll students in a non-unit Hub co-curricular and a four-unit internship course, which includes a classroom component. Placements are contingent upon the students’ experience, professional interests, and relevant academic history, as well as the availability of opportunities in any given term; flexibility is essential. Upon successful completion of the internship experience, students will receive a Hub requiremnet in the area Individual in Community from the co-curricular HUB SA 330.

COM JO 412 Internship in Journalism
Gain experience in writing, copy editing, research, fact checking, and interviewing for magazines, newspapers, web publications, or publishing houses. Past internship placements have included News Corp Australia, Concrete Playground, and Allen and Unwin.
