About WISE
WISE formed in the fall of 2004 with the mission of ascertaining the
needs of the female faculty in science and engineering disciplines
within the Colleges of Arts and Sciences and Engineering at Boston
University. Our goals are to
- provide opportunities for women faculty members in science and
engineering to network, mentor each other, and access leadership
training,
- provide opportunities for female graduate students in science
and engineering (GWISE) to network and be mentored,
- speak with a united voice about work climate concerns,
- inform administrators at Boston University about best practices
for recruiting and retaining faculty members, and
- assess the progress in diversity at Boston University.
WISE has implemented mentoring, leadership, and faculty advancement workshops. WISE works closely with the
Boston University Council on Faculty Diversity and Inclusion
and the Committee on Equity and Inclusion of the
Faculty
Council.
