  1. PTSD can be handled successfully without drugs and medication. The medical and psychiatric handling of the symptoms of PTSD is a long and pianful road with no improvement and increased side effects.

Handling the stress related to all illness. With a reduction in Mental and Physical Stress comes an improvement in health.

  2. I support our returning women veterans and give my full support to their receiving all of the benefits received by male veterans inclusive of disability benefits for PTSD. Returning women veterans face many of the same emotional, social, and economic problems as returning male veterans.
A military comrade is a military comrade regardless of gender.

I am an honorably discharged Vietnam War combat veteran.
I served as an Infantryman (squad leader) with the US Army;4th Inf. Div,, 2/8th Inf.; Republic of Vietnam 1969-1970. I never developed PTSD but some of my comrades in Vietnam did. One died of PTSD.

  3. In fact, clinical levels of PTSD frequently do require drugs, especially if the condition is co-morbid for depression, substance abuse, and other conditions. Chronic PTSD or long-standing conditions cause changes to the brain on measurable, observable levels. The ideal treatment for PTSD is usually a combination of medication and some sort of talk therapy. Many women vets have multiple traumas, which increase liklihood of developing PTSD as well as complicating. successful intervention. Some sufferers will have PTSD and require medication for the rest of their lives.

  4. I was diagnosed last year with PTSD. I am a medically retired female after having served in the Army 19 years 10 months Active Duty and over 23 years total service. I was forced out due to seizures. The VA has me in a program and I can’t say enough. I have had a lot of trauma over the years that I denied and ignored. Now thanks to the VA, I am finally getting the help I needed and required. I still have my setbacks, but my doctors are always there for me.

  5. I’m an 05-06 OIF Vet and I completely agree and aprrove this article. I struggle everyday and I am a mother of 3 kids and a new infant. Life changes completely

  6. It is good to see that the researchers are looking into Hormones as a alterating episodical fraction to PTSD: However it really irks me that I have been trying to get some one to pay attention and research into the effect taken over the whole gamout of the most addictive of drugs and the Effective outcome in all of the PTSD Morphology.
I Sure as the dicken’s do not have clout or Ca$h in order to bring attention to this…But it would behoot Every one and each one of the research people to question and document Adrenilin into the whole gamout of things….. That one single Flight or Fight morsel of Chemical input has been neglected. Why..? Becaouse it can not be duplicated? or because it can not be tested for @ the time of occurance or becouse the hair triger release mechanism is that hard to Identify in everyday situations..?
The Ups and down’s of Adrenilin High has been documented on Sports Adddicts but is not recognized in PTSD . What a Blunder the Psichiatric basis of more than 100 Ways to react an recover are not worth a few penny’s to the dollar for research…! Please do you self a favor and to those that you know..tell them to ask the Know it all’s if this is really a facet that needs to be Reconsider Investigated or Shelved.
I will continue to give my 2 Cents worth when you ring my bell.
