Martin Luther King, Jr. is often invoked in discussions about politics, human rights, social justice, race and ethics. No matter what your ideology, odds are you can use an MLK quotation to support your point of view. But what did King stand for, really? Why are certain parts of his life and work remembered more than others? Is King as beloved a historical figure as we’d like to believe? Is it time to find a new symbol for inspiration and a call to action? This Friday, let’s examine the legacy and influence of Boston University’s most famous alumnus.
