Coffee & Conversation : Veteran's Journey

  • Starts: 3:00 pm on Friday, April 27, 2018

The Federal Government continues to wrestle with how to correct the VA system. To privatize or not to privatize? How can the VA expedite care to veterans? For this Coffee & Conversation, we invite you to listen to perspectives from veterans or practitioners in the field who shed light on current issues affecting our returning soldiers prior to our dialogue. The Common Thread Podcast, a student-run podcast overseen by the Thurman Center, includes episodes with Iraq War veteran Steven J. Mandile, (https://www.bucommonthread.com/mandile) a vet who overcame opiate dependency by switching to cannabis and now advocates for alternative healing; Terri Tanielian, a BU alumna (https://www.bucommonthread.com/dc/terri-tanielian) who works for the RAND Corporation in Washington, D.C. as a Senior Behavioral Scientist focusing on the effects of war; and Adrian Atizado, (https://www.bucommonthread.com/dc/adrian-atizado) veteran of the Gulf War who now works for Disabled American Veterans. We hope you join us! Please sign up for our newsletter or follow us @BUHTC to unveil the topic of the week!
