Why be involved with CISE and the Division of Systems Engineering (SE)?

Suchin Aeron"CISE is a place of active learning, drawing a diverse group of research interests, faculty and students together with a multifaceted focus on problems of both practical and theoretical importance.  Having been associated with CISE for four years and with my advisor, Professor Venkatesh Saligrama, one of it's leading members, has been a life changing experience. Of special note has been the opportunity to work with Schlumberger Doll Research, a leader in its field."

Suchin Aeron, Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering Candidate, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Boston University

Eric Kolaczyk"CISE is a unique organization that gave me well-rounded exposure ....through the lectures of renowned researchers as well as to industry interests and perspectives related to our work. CISE played a substantial role in my Ph.D. study."

Keyong Li, Postdoctoral Associate, Cornell University
Ph.D. in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, Boston University, January 2006

Darryl Ahner "I came to BU for the flexibility in pursuing solutions to real world systems engineering problems. The program has quality faculty who research in a broad spectrum of quantitative challenges facing industry and government. They immediately impressed me by taking an active interest in me and making me aware of research opportunities."

Major Darryl Ahner,
Analyst, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command
Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, Boston University, May 2005

Eric Kolaczyk"We have synergy [in our areas of research and it gives me a way] to keep my ear to the ground in my engineering interests."

Eric Kolaczyk, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, College of Arts and Sciences, Boston University

Shixin (Brenda) Zhuang"Joining this group last year, I have benefited immensely from the excellent faculty and the different backgrounds of my fellow students. The systems engineering view of the world enables me to work on complicated models and solve problems with sophisticated methods. I believe graduate study here will be an important contributor to my future career."

Shixin (Brenda) Zhuang, Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, Boston University, May 2007

John Henderson"...an exciting opportunity for collaboration. e.g. our current research on the impacts of location-based information services could benefit from your work relating to logistics and workflow on the factory floor...I look forward to working with you and your colleagues."

John Henderson, Director, Institute for Leading in a Dynamic Economy, Richard C. Shipley Jr. Professor of Management, School of Management, Boston University

Osman Anli"I found much more than I expected at CISE... tremendous diversity of faculty expertise and I especially appreciated the attention and support that I got from my advisor. CISE provided a stimulating environment for me to grow as a researcher and an engineer. The resources here and among the academic institutions and community of greater Boston definitely provides a unique opportunity to excel ."

Osman Anli, Ph.D. in Manufacturing Engineering, 2003, Boston University

Hua Wang "In fact CISE was one of the main attractions for me to come to BU... "

Hua Wang, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering, Boston University
