One example: a graduate student from Kazakhstan named Alexandra Elbakyan is believed to be hiding out in Russia after illegally leaking millions of scientific papers. Another example: researchers found that results are only published for as few as 40% of academic clinical trials, potentially hindering progress and future studies.
