Dr. Trent Masiki examines the significance of memoirs as a site of Afro-Latino and African American interculturalism. It will specifically focus on Arturo Schomburg's presence in the Early Black Studies movement and the New Negro Renaissance as well as Piri Thomas's relationship with John Oliver Killens, the Harlem Writers Guild, and the Black Arts Movement.
