Innovation and Implementation: Bringing new health technologies to the developing world
BUSPH Pharmaceuticals Symposium: The second annual pharmaceuticals symposium focuses on the challenges of addressing unmet medical needs in low and middle income countries in the context of a complex economic landscape. The first session will explore defining disease burden and the various financing mechanisms and collaborations utilized in business development from the industry perspective. The second session will examine current innovations in health technologies and the challenges to implementation in low resource countries. This event will assemble a diverse selection of industry and public health experts in an interactive format to stimulate discussion and debate surrounding these complex issues. These varying perspectives will provide insight on the future implications of the increasing interface between the pharmaceutical industry and public health. The symposium will conclude with a networking reception. BUSPH Pharmaceuticals Program: The Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) Pharmaceuticals Program is a unique educational experience designed to acknowledge the important role that the pharmaceutical industry plays in public health. Beyond drug development and regulatory processes, students are challenged to further their comprehension by synthesizing and integrating knowledge from other key areas of study in public health such as health policy and management, epidemiology, biostatistics and international health. A diverse curriculum provides the flexibility for students to explore their area of interest in the pharmaceutical sector. As the pharmaceuticals program offers a solid foundation of knowledge and expertise to build upon, students will be adequately prepared to address future pharmaceutical issues from a public health perspective.
