WR Classroom Needs Form

This form is for requesting room features before your WR classes have been assigned to rooms. It should be submitted by December for fall requests and by July for spring requests. If your sections have already been assigned rooms (if their rooms are displayed on the Link), please use the WR Classroom Change Request Form instead.

Standard classroom features

All WR classrooms have a standard, minimum set of features: a projector, internet access, connections to use a laptop, a chalkboard or whiteboard, and flexible seating (furniture that can be reconfigured). If the standard classroom meets your teaching requirements, you do not need to submit this form.

Submit the form only for classroom features that are absolutely required.

For example, a required need might be that you need to use a dvd player frequently or often do activities that require boards on multiple walls.

Please do not submit this form for wishes or preferences such as not liking to teach in smaller and/or basement classrooms or wanting to be close to your office (excluding for medical reasons). Everyone shares those understandable preferences. The Registrar has to assign sections to those rooms because of classroom shortages, however. There usually aren’t any other room options to switch into. Your best chance of avoiding them is to teach before 10 am or after 2:30 pm.

Submit a maximum of 2 feature requests.

The Registrar won’t allow more. Every requirement you select narrows the pool of available rooms and may eliminate all possible room assignments. Also, the more features you request, the higher your chances of being assigned a less desirable room in other aspects (like one on West campus).

If you only need a piece of technology for a few sessions, we recommend that you do not request a classroom that has it as a permanent feature. Often Media Services can deliver technology to classrooms on an individual session basis. Most FT lecturers own program purchased laptops. We strongly recommend FT lecturers bring their own laptops if they need a computer in the classroom instead of requesting a permanent room computer, which limits the pool of available classrooms.

The following features can’t be requested.

There aren’t any or are very few size-appropriate classrooms that have these features. The Registrar also doesn’t allow requests for basic features they assume every faculty member prefers (like windows).

  • Mac computers (but select “Computer-any” below for a slim chance of getting a Mac room)
  • White boards
  • Lecture capture
  • Microphones
  • Dimmable lights
  • Interactive flatscreens (“smartboards”)
  • Movable small tables & chairs (like in YAW 322)

  • Ex. "All my sections." "Only my WR 120s." List your section # if you know it.
  • Please do not request more than 2 features.

    Please check any that apply.
