Victor Kumar

Victor Kumar received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona and has held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Michigan and the University of Toronto. His primary philosophical interests are in ethics, cognitive science, and evolutionary theory. He also has interests in epistemology, philosophy of mind, feminist philosophy, and philosophy of race.

Victor’s published work can be found in Ethics, NousPhilosophers’ ImprintPhilosophical StudiesThe Philosophical Quarterly, Analysis, and Cognition. In 2018 he was the first philosophy professor to be awarded the Peter Paul career development award from BU. His recent projects include essays on moral progress, moral luck, nudges, moral disgust, and moral learning. His book with Richmond Campbell on the evolution of morality and moral progress will be published by Oxford University Press in 2022.

Victor is director of the Mind and Morality Lab. He is also a member of the interdisciplinary Moral Psychology Research Group.
