G is the Program Administrator of Boston University’s Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program. They are an activist, producer, and artist whose work centers on queerness and community. They joined BU after three years at StageSource—a local arts service organization that served the New England theater sector—where they served as the Membership Manager and Internship Coordinator.
They received their BFA in Theatre Arts from Hofstra University in 2015. Shortly after graduation they tour-and-stage managed the international tour of Kultar’s Mime, and launched a career in professional stage management in Boston and New York City working on productions such as Punchdrunk NYC/Emursive’s Sleep No More and at many New England regional theaters. They are a proud member of the actors’ and stage manager’s union, Actors’ Equity Association. They are one of the co-leaders of the LGBTQ+ Community Group at AEA, and have previously served on an AEA negotiation team.
For the past four years, G has been a co-leader of Gender Explosion, a coalition of trans* theater and performance artists across the country. Gender Explosion aims to empower and create space for trans* artists in theater and the performing arts sector, and advocates on a local and national stage for equitable work opportunities and access to artistic spaces.
G is also a producer of theater, drag, and other community events. They are one of the co-producers of R!SK—Boston’s only 18+ sober drag open stage—alongside performer Aster R*sk. Some select producing credits include Slim Snatch Game (a drag show celebrating the intersection of queerness and athletics), Tales From Camp Strangewood (Sparkhaven Theatre), and Nosferatu the Vampyr (Sparkhaven Theatre).
As an artist, G performs drag under the name Gnat and creates visual art under the name Ghost Boy. Their work as an artist explores themes of queer and trans sensuality, monstrosity, grief and isolation, community, and more.
