MWPC Internship Opportunity

The Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus (MWPC) is seeking prospective interns for the Fall 2015 semester cohort. Our office was hoping that it would be possible for someone to forward the attached information to the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies students of Boston University. 
 
Who we are:
The Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus (MWPC) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization founded in 1971 with the purpose of maximizing the participation of women of all ages in the political process, and increasing the number of women elected and appointed to public office and public policy positions in Massachusetts government. 
 
Job Description:
The MWPC is seeking enthusiastic individuals to fill unpaid internships in our Boston office for the Fall 2015 semester. At MWPC, we work diligently to provide our interns with a positive learning experience within the modern women’s political movement. Interns work in ongoing operations, including fundraising and event planning, public relations, campaigns through our Political Action Committee, and other administrative operations of the MWPC under supervision of the Executive and Associate Directors. 
 
Our internships are tailored to best suit the student’s needs and interests, be it for resume building or college credit requirements. Internships are available each semester and during the summer months.
 
Job Duties:
Research 
Upcoming legislation, major donors, award nominees, political candidates, and other special projects 
 
Events 
Attend MWPC networking events, assist in designing and sending mailings, contact vendors and advertisers, assist in the coordination of logistics, and provide technical and logistical support at events 
 
MWPC Public Relations 
Assist in preparation of press releases, conduct research and prepare information for newsletter, monitor news headlines for topics to blog, update Facebook and Twitter pages with photos, news, and events 
 
Political Action Committee 
Conduct candidate and field research, assist women candidates by working on a campaign, and help coordinate MWPC efforts on behalf of endorsed candidates 
 
General Office Duties 
Phones, mail, faxes, filing, database maintenance, computer (e.g. Excel, Word), etc. 
 
Required Qualifications:
•Possess strong research skills 
•Be personable, outgoing, detail-oriented, and organized 
•Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal 
•Be experiened in using Microsoft Office Suite 
•Work well with others 
•Possess a sense of humor 
•Possess a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to MWPC’s mission 
 
 
Work Schedule: 
09/14/15 — 12/14/15 (flexible hours)
