A proposal to hold the 1998 meeting in Boston was accepted at the Nineteenth World Congress of Philosophy in 1993. The organizers began by forming the American Organizing Committee, Inc. (AOC) and appointing Professor Alan M. Olson (pictured above on left, with Mrs. Denyse Cauchy and Professor Venant Cauchy, organizer of the Seventeenth World Congress of Philosophy, held in Montreal, Canada, in 1983) Executive Director. The first planning meeting took place in March, 1995, at the Institut für Wissenschaften vom Menschen in Vienna at the gracious invition of IWM's Director, Professor Krzysztof Michalski. |
