The workshop will introduce students to relevant aerodynamic concepts. We will discuss small drones and UAM (urban air mobility) vehicles and their noise. The workshop will inform the students about opportunities in this emerging area, provide examples of how math and science gets used in this field and discuss relevant areas of study at the university.
SOME BACKGROUND INFO
It is estimated that by 2035 the AAM (advanced air mobility) industry will account for US$115 billion annually employing more than 280,000 in high-paying jobs. Many companies creating the vehicles already exist, they will require component suppliers, maintenance, and operators. New airway control systems are being developed and will need operators.
Joby aviation is BU’s ULI partner. They have flown many tests with their “air taxi.” This is one.
This is a video taken at the Google Nest in VA. From here delivery drones are launched. Have a listen!!!
