William McManus is an Associate Professor and Chair of Music Education in the School of Music, Boston University. He holds a Bmus, Boston Conservatory; MusM and EdD, Boston University.
Professor McManus has taught at Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory and Fitchburg State College. A recognized leader in the Field of Music Education, he has served as President of the Massachusetts Music Educators Association and President of Eastern Division of MENC: The National Association for Music Education.;
After a career of over thirty-five years as a music educator and arts administrator, he recently retired as Director of Fine and Performing Arts in Belmont, Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) has awarded Professor McManus the Lowell Mason Award and the MMEA Distinguished Service Award, the most prestigious award presented by the organization. He was also awarded the Conductor of the Year Award by the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association. Professor McManus has been an adjudicator, clinician, and guest conductor at music festivals throughout New England. He is currently Music Director of the Concord Band in Concord, Massachusetts.
