Scott Lipscomb is Professor of Music Technology and Music Eductaion. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
He is a music researcher investigating the affect of music on the human listener. His research focuses on the use of music in motion pictures and animation, technology integration in the music classroom, and tonality judgment by non-musicians.
He is a specialist in integrating technology into the music classroom, serving as technology consultant and workshop leader at various institutions of higher learning.
Professor Lipscomb is coauthor of Rock and Roll: Its History and Stylistic Development (Prentice-Hall, 2003); contributor to Handbook of Music Psychology (IMR Press, 1996), Musical Communications (Oxford University Press, in press), and Musical Creativity: Current research in theory and practise (Psychology Press, in press); author of articles in Psychomusicology, Selected Reports in Ethnomusicology, Integral, and Journal of the Centre for Research in Education and the Arts.
He is a frequent presenter at regional, national, and international conferences, and a Faculty Fellow, Searle Center for Teaching Excellence. Currently, he is President of the Association for Technology in Music Instruction (ATMI); a member of the Advisory Board and Research Committee, and Technology in Music Education (TI:ME). He is a former faculty member, University of Texas at San Antonio.
