The California Board requires the following additional training or coursework (which may not be included as part of the BU MSW program):
- 6 hours in Suicide Risk Assessment and Intervention;
- 7 hours in Child Abuse Assessment and Reporting (must be based on California law);
- 10 hours in Human Sexuality;

- BU MSW Course CP809 Substance Use Disorders may be submitted to the CA Board for equivalency evaluation

The Association of Social Work Boards Masters Exam is required. The state of Wisconsin requires candidates to pass the Wisconsin Statutes and Rules Examination. The exam is available online and is an open book format. Applicants have the option of taking the exam prior to graduation.
Please be aware that some states may require additional coursework and/or training for higher levels of licensing.
