Each numbered part of the applet is explained below.

  1. Start Button: Used to start a simulation after it is selected using the drop down box (3). It is disabled once the simulation starts.
  2. Pause/Resume Button: Used to pause/resume a running simulation.
  3. Simulation Selection: Use this drop down box to select the simulation that will be displayed.
  4. Sleep Time: Controls the amount of idle time between computational cycles. Lower numbers will cause the simulation to run faster (for slower machines), while higher numbers slow the simulation down (on fast machines).
  5. Trails Checkbox: Show the path of the electron.
  6. Mark Rotation Checkbox: In the close graph, mark each rotation of the electron (as defined as when the electron's angle is 0 radians).
  7. Velocity Vector Checkbox: Show the velocity vector of the electron.
  8. Radiation Reaction Vector Checkbox: Show the radiation reaction force that pulls the electron inward.
  9. Planewave Vector Checkbox: Show the circularly polarized planewave that counteracts the radiation reaction and prevents the atom from collapsing.
  10. Animation Window: Shows the motion of the electron.
  11. Radius Probability Distribution: Shows the distribution of the radius that the electron orbits at.
  12. Radius Over Time Plot: Plot of the electron's radius over time. In elliptical simulations, shows the semimajor and semiminor axes instead.
  13. Radius Over Time Plot (close view): Presents the same information as item 12, but gives a closer view to display finer oscillations.
  14. Text Description: A description of the simulation that is being run.
