The SickleGen Project

Welcome  SicklGen

SickleGen, a collaborative investigative group with shared interests in sickle cell disease, was formed with funding from the NHLBI. Its focus is to understand how genetic heterogeneity among patients influences pathophysiology and clinical events.

The original consortium that linked Boston University, University of Pittsburgh, Duke and the NHLBI has been augmented with the addition of Oakland Children’s Hospital and Howard University, with other potential collaborators from the U.S. and abroad.

We seek inclusivity and will welcome groups with biological samples for genetic analysis or samples that have already undergone high density SNP analysis. Our major goal is to assemble a large database that includes genetic and clinical information to be applied by our investigators and others for exploring genetic modulation of sickle cell disease and related topics.
