Yide Cai (Playwright) is an immigrant artist from Shenzhen, China, who is always chasing connections across distance. His works include The Rice Eaters, which debuted Off-Broadway at the 2025 Broadway Bound Theatre Festival and was published by 1319 Press; A Middle Passage, Winner of the 50th Annual Off-Off-Broadway Festival and published by Concord Theatricals; Steeped, in development with Pipeline Theater’s Playlab; and O True Apothecary, semi-finalist of the Eugene O’Neil National Playwrights Conference. He is the recipient of the EST/Sloan commission. He is also the Chinese translator of plays such as Dead Poets Society, Book of Will, and Rabbit Hole. He is a fellow of the Laboratory for Global Performance & Politics and a resident artist at Goethe-Institut Boston.
