MONICA BAUER‘s full length plays have been produced Off Broadway (59E59 Theaters, Urban Stages), Off-Off Broadway (Theater for the New City, many others), regionally at the John Drew Theater in East Hampton, and in Denver, Boston, Providence, Omaha, Detroit, Los Angeles, the Kennedy Center, and internationally at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Brighton (England) Fringe Festival. Education includes a BA from Brown, MDiv from Yale, MA and PhD from the University of Nebraska. Monica was the 2005 Teaching Fellow in the Graduate Playwriting Program at Boston University, where she received an MA in Playwriting. Her play for one actor, Made for Each Other has been in various productions since 2009. Monica was the winner of Urban Stages’s Emerging Playwright Award for My Occasion of Sin. Chosen Child was part of the 2014-2015 season at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre, where it was nominated for an Independent Reviewers of New England award for Best New Play. In 2017 it was chosen as one of three winners of the Bechdel Test Fest at the Bridge Initiative for Women in Theater. Vivian’s Music, 1969 was a hit at both the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Off Broadway at 59E59 Theaters. Recent awards include Best New Writing in the UK, 2018, for Vivian’s Music, 1969 (Chris Neville-Smith’s Year End Theatre Awards); and Best Script of a Comedy, Planet Connections Theater Festivity 2017, for Anne Frank in the Gaza Strip. Monica has various short plays published by Heuer and Brooklyn.
