LEO MCGANN is a playwright from Belfast. He began writing with Tinderbox Theatre Company through their Fireworks Young Writers group, and was also part of the Royal Court’s Young Writers Programme and Studio Group in London. Awards include National Partners of the American Theatre Playwriting Excellence Award in 2016, and the Kennedy Center’s Harold and Mimi Steinberg National Student Playwriting Award in 2018. He was a finalist for the 2017-2018 Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Award and a nominee for the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative. His play The Honey Trap was produced as a workshop production at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre in 2017. He co-wrote TV/web drama Backstage Story for BBC, where he has also worked as an Assistant Producer. He has a BA in Modern History from Oxford and an MFA in Playwriting from Boston University. He is the recipient of a 2017-2018 BAFTA Los Angeles Scholarship. He has taught Creative Writing at Boston University.
